Though he'd go on to deliver numerous classic street-level projects in the time since Victory Lap is officially billed as Hussle’s debut. The album is rife with the neo-G-funk sound that made his name (“Last Time That I Checc’d,” “Dedication”) as well as the platforms he's most proud of: turf-life activism and black business advocacy (“Young N***a,” “Million While You Young”). The clout of guests like Puff Daddy, Kendrick Lamar, and Cee-Lo Green is not to be understated, but Hussle’s collaborators, no matter their own fame, understand his importance.
Nipsey Hussle has plenty of reasons to be celebrating as his numbers for the first week after Victory Lap's debut album arrived. In a recent tweet, Nayborhood Nip acknowledged that after pushing 53,000 units in its first week, Victory Lap is now comfortably positioned at the No. 4 positions on the Billboard Hot 200 charts. Of the 53,000 units, 30,000 were counted as traditional album sales, while 21,000 were grouped under 21,000 SEA streaming equivalent albums and 2,000 accounted for track equivalent albums.
